11 K-drama Couples That Completely Captured My Heart

‘Sup lovers! I’m back again to entertain you😘

One thing that has always endeared me to Kdramas is how romance takes centre stage in almost all their stories.

Our Writer-nims are beyond gifted when it comes to birthing couples that grab hearts deeply. And our awesome actors of course, are magicians when it comes to bringing these couples to more-than-perfect life. Love them!

Join me as I rundown, in no particular, the Kdrama couples that completely stole my heart away.

Here they come!

Jung Joon hung and Kim Boo joo (Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok joo)

My dream relationship💕 Tah!!! Chemistry and Comfort overflow!

Just thinking about this bickery couple warms my heart so much and lights up something in me. They are absolutely my BEST k-drama couple EVER.

I’ve always been a sucker for bestfriends to lovers story, but no drama has unfurled it to me at a natural, beautiful, convincing and profound way, quite like this College one.

Sometimes, I rewind some of Jung Joon hung and Kim Bok joo’s earlier scenes to see how an initial pest-like relationship (gosh, Bok joo was at her wit’s end and Joon hung was a real ass pain😂) grew from reluctant friendship, to buddy friendship, to close friendship and finally, swag romance. And every time, I’m unable to single-out the transitions. It’s a proof of how seamless and organic the romantic development was.

Jung Joon hung (Nam Joo hyuk) and Kim Bok joo (Lee Sung kyung) embodied cute and swag effortlessy. They were a huge fluttery delight and their eye candy value, especially that of Joon hung, was tortuous to say the least.

Also, watching Joon hung always take it upon himself to cheer on and be there for Bok joo at her lowest moments of doubt and insecurity as a female weighlighter, was the height of pureness for me.

It’s no wonder he slowly, but completely stole brassy Bok joo’s heart away. Just like it’s no wonder Nam Joo hyuk melted Lee Sung kyung’s real heart in the process. I just hate that the models turned actors couldn’t last past three months😭.

I adored them together to bits!!!😭😭😭.

Ahn Min Hyuk and Do Bong soon (Strong Woman Do Bong soon)

Gosh, Min-Min and Bong soon were enormously lovable! Just like the Weightlifting couple. They exuded the same innocence and cuteness tinged with swag. Their love story was painted in a similar pastel palette too. I loved them so much!

Ahn Min Hyuk melting like a 15 year old teenage girl over every romantic thing Bong soon did or said to him, were serious highlights for me.

It was so refreshing and entertaining to see a young CEO, handsome and successful in every sense, blush so openly at the slightest sweetness of his ass-kicking babe.

The best part? Everything felt so natural and painfully cute. The comfort and affection even, was so palpable between Park Hyung sik (Ahn Min hyuk) and Park Bo young (Do Bong soon).

I mean, Min hyuk and Bong soon’s confessions were so heartfelt and genuinely delivered it hurt.

They totally stole my heart in a flicker! Just like our Weightlifting Fairy couple, no list of heart-grabbing kdrama couple is ever complete without them. No list.

Ahn Joong hee and Miyoung (Father is Strange)

Ah! Ahn Joong hee (Lee joon) and Miyoung (Jun So min), I was obsessed with them. Even when they hadn’t started dating in the drama, I was totally content with just seeing them smile, laugh, bicker or get jealous over other threatening romantic interests in their lives.

And when they started dating, geez, I suffered from cringes and diabetes. Their love confessions were awfully sugary and Miyoung always trying to impress Joong hee with her dressing and makeup was both comical and high-level sweet!

I totally loved them together. My happiness always dissipated whenever they left my screen for another character to appear.

Little wonder Lee joon and Jung So min have been dating since wrapping up the drama in 2017!❤

I mean… feel the tension!

Kim Da hyun and Lee Jae in (Something About 1%)

Being a short drama that only focused on serving romantic goals, it was hard not to be immersed in Da Da and Jae in’s love story. Not especially when their chemistry was unique and their kisses, sizzling hot!

These two filled and warmed my heart with their innocent confessions, daylight and late night dates, late night calls and sleep ins.

Their petty brawls were so crackling! Because they were both unyielding hot heads when the situation called for it; their fights were super fun to watch.

I honestly loved these two together. It was so easy to fall in love with them as they so easily fell for each other.

Kim Na Na and Lee Yoon sung (City Hunter)

Bear Na Na and Yoon sung’s affection for each other was mostly cloaked in childish squabbles and snooty antics.

Yet, it wasn’t hard to tell how deeply they felt for each other and how precious, they considered each other.

Park Min young is that actress that has the ability to have chemistry with any of her co-stars (who are always amazing by the way). But till date, I personally find her chemistry with Lee Min ho to be the most natural, special and beautiful.

They were picture-perfect and utterly a spectacle to watch in the sleek action series. It’s no wonder they dated afterwards, even if for a few months.

It was enough to convince us that the sparks had been damn real!

Im Sung min and Song Ji won (Age of Youth)

Out of all the romantic relationships this college drama followed, Song Ji won and Im Sung min’s had the least screen time.

Still, I’m pleased to say they captured my heart massively! They were totally my fav! Their comical compatibility was off the charts!

They were never mushy-mushy. They never even dated throughout the series (Writer nim, I’m still livid).

But oh my gee, they were unfailingly entertaining and hilarious in the meagre times they showed up😂😂.

Sung min was gruff and apathetic to Ji won’s wildness and craziness. Yet, he never failed to show up for her. He never failed to be there when it mattered, not even when he was put at risk.

And it was fascinating and heart-warming to see how Ji won always naturally counted on Sung min despite their platonic, almost reluctant relationship.

I was absolutely in love with these two. It would be a dream come true to finally witness them admit their feelings for each other and date in the much craved third installment.

Son Seung won and Park Eun bin’s chemistry was mind-bogglingly awesome!

Captain Yoo Shi jin and Kang Mi yeon (Descendants of the Sun)

The hot-shot song-song couple that got everybody crazy. Their doctor-soldier love story was so dream-like and picturesque!

Kang Mi yeon was angelic in her doctor’s gown and oh my, Captain Yoo Shi-jin in his military debonair, inspired unquenchable lusting.

Their blinding visuals definitely made the show of them quickly falling for each other, a totally enchanting and riveting experience. It didn’t help that their chemistry was freaking infectious too!

I particularly loved the scenes of Shi jin playing mischievous pranks on Mi Yeon, sharing a cup of coffee with her and tying up her hair.

I also loved that episode where all of Mi Yeon’s recorded feelings for Shi jin were exposed by mistake and broadcast all over. It was so pleasing how unabashedly she gushed out everything that was so cool and attractive about him to her! I totally revelled in the shame and teases she suffered from afterwards. She had been so difficult to my Captain she deserved it! Hahaha!

It’s unfortunate that Song Hye kyo and Song Joong ki’s marriage collapsed in real life. They were a literal dream couple! Chemistry-oozing galore. So sad.

Yu Jun su and Jang Guk (12 years Promise)

This high school lovers were so unique and lovable. They were so precious for me that once they left the show for the older actor counterparts to take over, I abandoned the show. There was just no way Yu Jun su and Jang Guk’s rare magic could be recreated by entirely new, older faces. Unsurprisingly, online reviews confirmed my fears.

Funny enough, I never regretted investing 13 hours – which Jun su and Guk lasted for – out of the 26. They were totally worth it. I left feeling both content and yearning for more.

Jun su was so nice and handsome and his smile was a killer!

Sorry…just had to show you the smile!

When he found out that he had gotten Guk pregnant, he was so concerned, so ready to take on responsibility, so ready to spoil her and be there for her. It was such a beautiful sight to behold. Seeing how besotted Guk was with Jun su, right of the bat, really warmed up my heart too.

There was undoubtedly something pure, dynamic and aspirational about their love story.

Park Morgan and Bae Ta mi (Search WWW)

Park Morgan and Bae Ta mi’s relationship is one that I really hold in high esteem. The way they always expressed their frank feelings without burying them or recklessly losing themselves in the moment was something that I found impactful and respectful.

Bae Ta mi never failed to spell it to Park Morgan that her career was more important to her than anything. She let him know that things like marriage and having children were never and would never be in her agenda. It was awing how she stood her ground despite how in love she was with Park Morgan. It was very dignifying and inspiring to me.

I also loved how painfully sharp Park Morgan got with Ta mi too, whenever he had had it. Being helpless in love didn’t stop him for from looking her in the eye and calling her out on the triviality with which she treated him at times.

They both had their low and high times. But the real beauty of their relationship was the honesty, frankness and understanding it was built upon. It was freaking admiring!

And the kisses, aheeeem, they were weakening! Absolutely loved them together.

Meanwhile…

HOW ARE YOU SO FINE JANG KI YONG?!

Sung Bo ra and Sung Sun woo (Reply 1988 )

Sung Bo ra and Sung Sun woo’s noona-dongsaeng romance is one of the most solid and beautiful that I’ve come across in all my kdrama watching years. Sung Bo ra was not easy to love. Brash, introverted and prickly. But handsome Sung Sun woo saw through the real marshmallow that she was underneath and loved her wholeheartedly. Sun woo never flinched on his love and care for Bo ra. Not even when his friends thought it was insane that he was attracted to her, AT ALL.

He was so convinced of the belly full happiness he found with Bo ra. And he was ready to risk it all for her. Bo ra, couldn’t help herself too. Sun woo broke through her tough walls and she found herself loving how good hearted he was to his single mother and little sister and how blindly he loved her, despite her aggressiveness which were merely facades of the insecurities she carried around with her.

I just love how Bo ra came to put pride aside, when she realized she loved and missed Sun woo to death and couldn’t stay broken up any longer. They were truly a gem together.

Go Kyung pyo and Ryu Hye young displayed genuine chemistry. I’m sure their real life close friendship had a lot to do with that. Anyways, can’t wait to be loved by a guy like Sun woo someday. Can’t wait!

Kim Seung yoo and Lee Se ryung (My Princess Man)

Aw! These two and their epic love story. Moon Chae won and Park Si hook were astounding together. Their chemistry blew me away.

The longing, intensity and pain required of them to convince viewers of Seung yoo and Se ryung’s doomed love was achingly real and tear jacking.

I was so shaken by Seung yoo and Se ryung’s love that afterwards, I poured my heart and soul into writing a poem.

Lmao. Guys…I’m pathetic with poems!

But that’s how tugging and stirring these two’s emotionally intense journey was. It moved me so much, that the terrible poem writer in me couldn’t stop me from whipping something up!

Hahaha! Can’t laugh enough😅.

That’s it lovers! Surely, this precious list of mine will keep being updated. I can’t wait for more special kdrama couples to make me wobble hard with butterflies and grab my heart hugely.

To that, I say more grease to your elbows brilliant writer nims and actors. Well done in anticipation. I can’t wait!❤
