Anytime I hear that the Met Gala is around the corner, the images that always come to my mind are crazy, outrageous, bizarre and sometimes, bedazzlingly beautiful gowns.
The Met is no doubt the Oscars of the Fashion world and it is always a star-filled night where you will find almost every relevant/reigning celebrity in hollywood convened at.
The Gala started in 1948 by Publicist Eleanor Lambart to get donations from New York’s high society to support the Met’s Costume Institute and celebrate the grand opening of its latest exhibition. And since the 90s, the Met has evolved to being the grandest fundraising event in the Fashion world.
Since 1995, the event has been chaired by Anna Wintour, US Vogue Editor-in-Chief who has always implored the help of celebrities to serve as co-chairs.
This year’s Met, which marked its 71st anniversary, took place on Monday at the usual place it has always taken place; New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art and a high number of stars from fashion, film, music, sports and arts strutted the famed paparazzi- flanked carpet in a similar thread of ruffles, feathers and wings.

What did you think of all the looks, people? Beyonce and Rihanna were noticeably absent. How sad. I always look forward to their fabulous displays. Anyway, the fashion at this year’s Met delivered on its theme: “Camp”, even though there were a lot of similarities with the ruffles and all. However, the likes of Lady Gaga and Cardi B definitely made sure to stand out.
