Hey yo lovers!
I’m back again, and today, I’d like to gush about some of my favourite love songs from Taylor Swift!😊If you’ve been around my blog for long, it wouldn’t surprise you to know that I am a big Taylor Swift fan. As a hopeless romantic who loves all things dreamy, swoony, and lovey-dovey, I enjoy listening to romantic songs, and Taylor Swift, one of my favourite artists ever—and a hopeless romantic herself—happens to be really good at crafting them.
Taylor Swift has a lot of wonderful love songs (I mean, it’s a quintessential part of her brand), but there are just these 3 unforgettable, dreamy songs that stand out to me so much more🥹. From the lyricism to vocal delivery, instrumental production, and memorability, they check all the boxes and seriously color my fantasies.
Without wasting any more time, here come my absolute, favourite dreamy love songs from Taylor Alison Swift:
Today Was A Fairytale

This was actually the love song that inspired this whole article. I LOVEEEEEE “Today was a fairytale” sooooooo freakin’ much😩. There’s no single time that I press play on it and don’t immediately feel butterflies raid my tummy. The upbeat, tingly, dreamy guitar strings that the song starts off with fill me with fluttery anticipation and intractable excitement—every single time.
The 2010 song was written for a Valentine’s Day movie that starred Taylor Swift, and was recently included in her rerecorded sophomore album, Fearless (Taylor’s Version). “Today was a fairytale” is that song you listen to as you blushingly get ready for a date. It is also the song you listen to after the date went unbelievably well. Dreamily. Perfectly.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a teenager on a first date with her long-term crush, or a full-grown adult experiencing butterflies for the first time; the song will have you smiling from ear to ear, and curling your toes in from all the wonder, magic, and euphoria you’re feeling.
🎶I wore a dress, and you wore a dark-grey T-shirt
You told me I was pretty when I looked like a mess
Today was a fairytale
Time slows down
Whenever you’re around
Can you feel the magic in the air?
It must have been the way you kissed me
Fell in love when I saw you standing there
It must have been the way…
Today was a fairytale🎶
Gosh, I love this dreamy song🥺, and will never ever get tired of it. The twinkly guitar instrumentals and way Taylor shares the sweet story of her date picking her up, complimenting her dress, and making every move “perfectly” are forever etched in my heart. And the joyous, self-aware, nostalgic way she sings every line in the song always imbues me with a kind of joy that I could never fully describe.
I just love this song so damn much!
Enchanted

I dare call this song from Taylor’s third album, Speak Now, a masterpiece in romance storytelling.
The song is about chance encounters and finding true connection with someone just when you were feeling like the loneliest person in the most crowded room. It is about the debilitating crush you suddenly develop on that person, and how the sky magically opens up and the stars in the darkened night suddenly shine brighter, differently.
Taylor Swift details how their eyes meet amidst her boredom, how he fascinatingly lights her up and makes her smile, how she danced all the way home from the unexpected connection, and how she prayed desperately as she bounced about her room, that he wasn’t in love with someone else.
🎶Your eyes whispered, “Have we met?”
Cross the room, your silhouette
Starts to make its way to me
The playful conversation starts
Counter all your quick remarks
Like passing notes in secrecy
This night is sparkling
Don’t you let it go
I’m wonderstruck, blushing all the way home
I’ll spend forever wondering if you knew
I was enchanted to meet you
This night is flawless
Don’t you let it go
I’m wonderstruck, dancing ‘round all alone
I’ll spend forever wondering if you knew
I was enchanted to meet you🎶
The subchorus builds and heightens up to this chorus that feels so magnanimously magical, so cathartically robust to sing along to. I inflate dangerously high and almost combust whenever the chorus nears. And whenever I sing along to the chorus, it is an experience. A rousing, otherworldly, sky-floaty experience I never want to miss out on.
What an ethereal love song!

Fun fact: This song is actually based on a real-life experience Taylor Swift had with Adam Young, the lead singer of the band Owl City. They were both present at the event where Taylor felt “enchanted” to meet him.
Another fun fact: Adam wrote a long open letter and song responding to her song. He talked about how enchanted he was to meet her too. And no, they never dated. But somehow, that makes the song even sweeter and more meaningful!🤭
You Are In Love

As is “Enchanted,” this song is a masterclass in painting vivid pictures with words and telling a full, romantic story within minutes.
There’s no time I listen to the song and not see every single scene Taylor describes play out vividly in the theatre of my mind.
In a lot of ways, “You are in love” also reminds me of “Today was a fairytale.” Both songs are tingly, but where “Today was a fairytale” sounds more crush-y, gushy, and teenagey, “You are in love” feels calmer, grown, and grounded. It evokes that feeling of meeting “the one” and finally understanding what true love means.

“You Are In Love” is a mellow, piano-driven song from Taylor’s iconic, Grammy-winning 1989 album, and it’s uniquely written in a second person point of view. Similar to “Today Was a Fairytale,” the song opens with an instrumental, but instead of a guitar, it begins with these heart-fluttering piano chords that give me the feeling of floating in the sky and experiencing mature, euphoric love for the first time in a long time.
🎶Morning, his place
Burnt toast, Sunday
You keep his shirt
And he keeps his word
And for once, you let go
Of all your fears, and your ghosts
One step not much, but it said enough
You kiss on sidewalks, you fight, and you talk
One night, he wakes
Strange look on his face,
Pauses, then says
You’re my best friend
And you knew what it was
He is in love🎶
This is pure poetry, isn’t it?
With the meticulous brevity, rhymes, and rhythm? Not to mention imagery. Everything literally plays out like a movie in your mind. Listening to the actual song is a different experience. The romantic peace, cadence, and reflection with which Taylor sings is just beautiful. Too beautiful. And the instrumentals. They are the literal definitions of dreamy and intricate. They are angelically crafted and therapeutically calming.
They perfectly capture that feeling of falling in the arms of someone who feels like home.
Someone who unmistakably feels like your forever person.
🎶You can hear it in the silence, silence
Oooohh Ooohh
You can feel it on the way home, way home
Oooohh Ooohh
You can see it with the lights out, lights out
Oooohh Ooohh
You’re in love
True love🎶
Ooof. Taylor Swift is a genius love songwriter. She just gets it. She not only gets all the butterflies, she also gets the conviction that resounds even in the silence.
She gets the few blinking stars that reveal themselves in the darkness of the night.
She gets it. Wow. I’m stunned every time I behold this absolute gem of a song.
Conclusion

The truth is that there are many other Taylor Swift love songs that felt deserving of this list. It almost feels like a crime not to add songs like “Invisible Strings,” “Call It What You Want,” “Lover,” “Delicate,” “Fearless,” and “So High School.” But I wanted to be brutally honest about the songs that I find to be the dreamiest, most romantic, most memorable Taylor Swift love songs I’d ever heard and loved.
“Fearless” as a song has really, really grown on me these days, and I absolutely enjoy singing out loud to it. But I’m not sure I’m able to gush about it with as much enthusiasm and detail as I did with the songs I described in this article. The same is the case with the other songs I wanted to add. They are lyrically, thematically, vocally, and instrumentally brilliant, but I guess I wanted to focus on the more ethereal, relatable Taylor Swift love songs, and I did just that.
I hope you enjoyed reading as much as I enjoyed writing! See you in my next one. Bye lovers! And happy listening if you haven’t heard these gorgeous songs before.
You’re in for a TREAT!💗🎧
